Agreement principles

Clear responsibilities for Reveu and merchants.

Reveu provides software tools. Merchants remain responsible for their stores, customers, communications, review practices, promotions, content, and compliance obligations.

01

Merchant controlled

Merchants choose which features are enabled and control review, email, moderation, storefront, and promotion settings.

02

Responsible use

Reveu must not be used for misleading reviews, unlawful marketing, abusive content, unauthorised data, or platform misuse.

03

No guaranteed results

Reveu provides growth tools but does not guarantee reviews, engagement, revenue, conversion rates, or other outcomes.

04

Shared security

Reveu protects its service while merchants remain responsible for Shopify access, staff permissions, devices, and store configuration.

Agreement summary

These points summarise important parts of the agreement. The complete terms below govern if a summary conflicts with the detailed wording.

  • Reveu is intended for merchants using it for business purposes with a Shopify store.
  • Merchants are responsible for their review, marketing, privacy, consumer-protection, and promotional practices.
  • Reveu may change, suspend, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary.
  • Early access is currently free, but future paid plans may be introduced with advance notice.
  • Reveu does not guarantee specific commercial results or uninterrupted availability.

01

Agreement and acceptance

These App Terms of Service form an agreement between Reveu and the merchant that installs, accesses, or uses the Reveu Shopify application.

In these terms:

  • “Reveu,” “we,” “us,” or “our” means the operator of the Reveu Shopify application.
  • “Merchant,” “you,” or “your” means the person or business responsible for the Shopify store that installs or uses Reveu.
  • “App” or “Service” means the Reveu Shopify application and associated administration, email, storefront, import, support, and infrastructure services.
  • “Customer” means a customer, reviewer, visitor, recipient, or other person whose information or content is processed through the Service.
  • “Merchant Content” means content, information, configuration, files, reviews, media, templates, branding, or instructions supplied or controlled by you.

By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.

If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.

These terms are intended for business users. They are not intended to govern use of Reveu wholly or mainly outside a trade, business, craft, or profession.

02

Eligibility and authority

To install or use Reveu, you must:

  • Be legally capable of entering into this agreement
  • Be at least 18 years old or the legal age required to enter business contracts in your jurisdiction
  • Have authority to act for the relevant merchant and Shopify store
  • Maintain a valid Shopify account and store
  • Provide accurate information when communicating with Reveu
  • Use the Service only for lawful business purposes

Where you install or use Reveu on behalf of a company, partnership, organisation, or other person, you confirm that you have authority to bind that person to these terms.

You are responsible for the actions of staff, contractors, agencies, developers, and other authorised users who access Reveu through your Shopify store.

03

Relationship with Shopify

Reveu is designed to operate with Shopify but is provided independently by Reveu.

Shopify is not a party to this agreement and does not control Reveu’s performance, support, content, or merchant relationship.

Your use of Shopify remains subject to your separate agreement with Shopify.

You must comply with:

  • Your Shopify merchant agreement
  • Applicable Shopify policies
  • Shopify App Store and platform requirements
  • Theme and storefront requirements
  • Applicable API and application restrictions

Shopify may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue platform features, APIs, permissions, billing systems, or application access. Such changes may affect Reveu’s operation.

Shopify names, logos, trademarks, products, and services remain the property of Shopify or their respective owners.

04

Installation, access, and accounts

Reveu obtains access to a Shopify store only through the permissions approved during installation or later permission updates.

You are responsible for:

  • Protecting your Shopify account and credentials
  • Using multi-factor authentication where available
  • Restricting staff access to authorised people
  • Reviewing permissions granted to installed applications
  • Removing access when a user no longer requires it
  • Keeping store, contact, and billing information accurate
  • Informing Reveu promptly of suspected unauthorised access

You must not share authentication tokens, access credentials, private links, or security information with an unauthorised person.

Reveu may require you to reauthorise the App where permissions, Shopify requirements, security controls, or application functionality change.

05

The Reveu service

Depending on the current release, merchant configuration, and applicable plan, Reveu may provide:

  • Product ratings and written reviews
  • Customer photo reviews
  • Verified-purchase indicators
  • Review-request links and emails
  • Email template customisation and testing
  • Review moderation and publication controls
  • Blocked-word and automatic publication settings
  • Merchant replies
  • Review reporting and helpful votes
  • CSV review imports
  • Product matching by handle, product ID, or SKU
  • Review lists, stars, summaries, sorting, and filtering
  • Shopify theme app extensions and app embeds
  • Discount popups and engagement tools
  • Support, privacy, and uninstall workflows

Features may be introduced, changed, limited, replaced, or removed in accordance with these terms.

The availability of a feature may depend on Shopify, the merchant’s theme, application permissions, external providers, store configuration, browser compatibility, and technical requirements.

06

Merchant responsibilities

You remain responsible for your Shopify store, customers, products, communications, legal notices, and use of Reveu.

You must:

  • Ensure you have a lawful basis for personal information processed through Reveu
  • Provide customers with appropriate privacy and cookie information
  • Follow applicable marketing and electronic-communications rules
  • Ensure reviews and endorsements are not misleading, fake, or manipulated
  • Moderate unlawful, infringing, harmful, or inappropriate customer content
  • Ensure discounts, promotions, and incentives are described accurately
  • Honour customer rights, opt-outs, and privacy requests
  • Keep product, order, customer, and store information accurate
  • Test storefront widgets after theme or application changes
  • Review imported content before publishing it
  • Use appropriate permissions for submitted photographs and other media
  • Comply with applicable consumer-protection, advertising, intellectual-property, privacy, and data-protection laws

Reveu does not provide legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, or professional advice.

You are responsible for obtaining professional advice where appropriate for your store and jurisdiction.

07

Reviews and customer content

Reveu enables customers and merchants to submit, manage, and display user-generated content.

This content may include:

  • Ratings
  • Review titles and written comments
  • Reviewer display names
  • Customer photographs
  • Merchant replies
  • Review reports
  • Helpful votes
  • Imported review content

You are responsible for deciding whether content should be published, hidden, moderated, replied to, or removed.

You must not knowingly publish or retain content that:

  • Is false, fabricated, or materially misleading
  • Impersonates another person
  • Was submitted without appropriate authority
  • Infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights
  • Contains unlawful threats, harassment, or discrimination
  • Contains unnecessary sensitive personal information
  • Contains malicious links, code, or fraudulent material
  • Violates applicable law or Shopify requirements

Reveu does not independently verify every factual statement made in a review.

08

Review verification

Reveu may use review-request links, protected tokens, order information, product information, and matching rules to identify reviews connected to a purchase.

A “verified,” “verified buyer,” or similar indicator means that Reveu identified a qualifying connection using the available data and configured verification method.

Verification does not guarantee:

  • That every statement in the review is true
  • That the reviewer personally used the product
  • That the purchase was not returned or refunded
  • That the review is complete or unbiased
  • That the reviewer’s experience represents other customers

You must not manually describe a review as verified where there is no reasonable basis for doing so.

You must configure verification and direct-submission settings in a way that does not mislead customers about how reviews were obtained.

09

Moderation and publication

Reveu may provide manual moderation, automatic publication, blocked-word handling, reporting, and removal controls.

You remain responsible for the moderation policy applied to your store.

You must not use moderation to create a misleading overall impression, including by:

  • Publishing positive reviews while systematically hiding genuine negative reviews without a legitimate reason
  • Editing a customer’s meaning without permission
  • Removing criticism merely because it is unfavourable
  • Presenting selected reviews as representative where that is not reasonably accurate
  • Using automated rules that discriminate unlawfully

Reviews may be restricted where they are spam, abusive, irrelevant, unlawful, duplicated, fraudulent, privacy-invasive, or inconsistent with a reasonable moderation policy.

Reveu may remove or restrict content where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, comply with law, respond to a rights complaint, or address abuse.

10

Review-request emails

Reveu may send merchant-configured review requests following relevant order or fulfilment events.

You are responsible for:

  • Determining whether you have a lawful basis to send each communication
  • Configuring appropriate timing and recipients
  • Ensuring templates, subject lines, branding, and claims are accurate
  • Respecting consent, preference, suppression, and opt-out information
  • Providing legally required sender and unsubscribe information
  • Ensuring that communications comply with applicable privacy, marketing, and electronic-communications laws

Reveu may use the communication or marketing preference recorded in Shopify when processing a configured review request. That technical check does not replace your own legal assessment.

Email delivery is not guaranteed. Messages may be delayed, blocked, rejected, filtered, suppressed, or classified as spam by recipients, providers, networks, or security systems.

You must not use review-request functionality for unrelated bulk marketing, purchased lists, unsolicited campaigns, or abusive messaging.

11

Discounts, incentives, and promotions

Reveu may provide discount popups, lead-collection tools, and features that allow merchants to offer incentives.

You are responsible for:

  • Creating and funding the promotion
  • Setting accurate eligibility and expiry conditions
  • Honouring valid discounts and stated benefits
  • Displaying important restrictions clearly
  • Following applicable pricing and promotion laws
  • Obtaining required marketing consent
  • Preventing misleading urgency or scarcity claims
  • Disclosing review incentives where required

You must not condition an incentive on the customer submitting a positive review or a particular rating.

Where an incentive is offered for a review, the incentive should be available regardless of whether the review is positive, neutral, or negative.

Reveu is not responsible for the merchant’s discount codes, inventory, promotion terms, tax treatment, redemption decisions, or customer disputes.

12

Review imports and product matching

Reveu may allow review information to be imported using CSV files and matched with products using handles, product IDs, SKUs, or other identifiers.

You confirm that:

  • You are authorised to import and use the content
  • The information was obtained lawfully
  • The reviews relate to the represented products
  • Reviewer and verification information is not misleading
  • Necessary notices, permissions, and consents were obtained
  • The file does not contain malicious code or unnecessary sensitive information

You must inspect import results, unmatched records, product associations, dates, ratings, verification labels, and published content before relying on the import.

Reveu is not responsible for errors caused by inaccurate, incomplete, malformed, duplicated, or unauthorised import data.

13

Acceptable use

You must not use Reveu to:

  • Create, buy, sell, or publish fake reviews
  • Manipulate ratings or review totals deceptively
  • Misrepresent an unverified review as verified
  • Send unlawful or unsolicited communications
  • Collect information without required permission or notice
  • Upload malware, malicious scripts, or harmful files
  • Probe, scan, or attack the Service without authorisation
  • Bypass access controls, limits, or security measures
  • Interfere with another merchant or customer
  • Access information belonging to another store
  • Reverse engineer protected parts of the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it
  • Resell or commercially exploit the Service without written permission
  • Use automated requests that create unreasonable load
  • Use Reveu in connection with fraud or unlawful activity
  • Violate Shopify requirements or applicable law

Reveu may investigate suspected misuse and may restrict functionality while an investigation is conducted.

14

Merchant Content and licence

As between you and Reveu, you retain ownership of Merchant Content, subject to any rights belonging to customers or other parties.

You grant Reveu a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt for technical formatting, transmit, display, and otherwise use Merchant Content only as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide and operate the Service
  • Apply your settings and instructions
  • Display content on your storefront
  • Send configured communications
  • Provide support and troubleshoot problems
  • Secure and maintain the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

You confirm that you have the rights and authority required to provide Merchant Content and grant this licence.

The licence ends when the relevant content is deleted from active systems, except where temporary retention is required for backups, security, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

15

Reveu intellectual property

Reveu and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, including:

  • Software and source code
  • Application interfaces and workflows
  • Designs, layouts, and visual elements
  • Documentation and support material
  • Reveu names, branding, logos, and trademarks
  • Templates and default content
  • Product improvements and derivative works

Subject to these terms, Reveu grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service for your Shopify business during the agreement.

No ownership rights in the Service are transferred to you.

You must not remove or conceal Reveu copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices without permission.

16

Feedback and suggestions

You may provide suggestions, ideas, feature requests, usability feedback, or other comments about Reveu.

You grant Reveu a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable, and royalty-free right to use and incorporate that feedback without restriction or payment.

This does not give Reveu ownership of your confidential information, personal information, store data, or customer content.

17

Third-party services

Reveu depends on or interacts with third-party services, including:

  • Shopify
  • Hosting and database providers
  • Email-delivery providers
  • Storage and media-delivery providers
  • Queue, cache, monitoring, and network providers
  • Merchant themes and other Shopify applications
  • Browsers, devices, internet providers, and email clients

Third-party services may have separate terms, privacy policies, restrictions, costs, and availability.

Reveu does not control and is not responsible for:

  • Third-party outages or security incidents
  • Changes to third-party APIs or functionality
  • Theme conflicts caused by third-party code
  • Email filtering or delivery decisions
  • Third-party account suspension or termination
  • Products, services, or content supplied by another party

Reveu will take reasonable steps to maintain compatibility but does not guarantee compatibility with every theme, application, browser, device, or external service.

18

Changes to the Service

Reveu may update, improve, modify, replace, restrict, or remove parts of the Service.

Reasons may include:

  • Product development
  • Security or privacy improvements
  • Shopify platform changes
  • Provider or infrastructure changes
  • Legal or regulatory requirements
  • Performance and reliability work
  • Low usage or technical impracticality
  • Prevention of abuse or harm

Reveu will aim to provide reasonable notice of a material change that significantly reduces core paid functionality, unless urgent security, legal, platform, or operational reasons make advance notice impractical.

19

Early-access and pre-release features

Reveu may make the Service or particular features available as early access, beta, preview, experimental, or pre-release functionality.

Such functionality may:

  • Be incomplete or under active development
  • Contain defects or temporary limitations
  • Change without the same notice as established features
  • Have limited documentation or support
  • Be withdrawn before general release
  • Require additional testing or configuration

You should not rely on early-access functionality for business-critical operations without suitable testing, monitoring, and contingency arrangements.

Participation in early access does not guarantee a launch date, permanent free access, continued feature availability, or inclusion in a future paid plan.

20

Pricing, billing, and taxes

Early-access pricing

Reveu is currently offered free of charge during its stated early-access or launch-preparation period.

Reveu may introduce paid plans, usage limits, feature limits, trials, or other pricing in the future.

Reveu will not charge you for a newly introduced paid plan without presenting the applicable pricing and obtaining the approval required through Shopify.

Shopify billing

Where charges are introduced, they will be processed through an applicable Shopify billing or app-pricing system unless Shopify expressly permits another method.

Pricing, billing periods, usage limits, trial periods, and cancellation terms will be presented through Shopify or the Reveu pricing interface before a charge is accepted.

Taxes

Prices may exclude applicable taxes unless expressly stated otherwise.

You are responsible for taxes, duties, levies, or similar charges associated with your use of the Service, except taxes based on Reveu’s net income.

Billing disputes

Contact Reveu promptly if you believe an application charge is incorrect.

Shopify may administer invoicing, payment collection, refunds, credits, taxes, and billing records according to its own terms and systems.

21

Privacy and data processing

Reveu’s handling of personal information is described in the Reveu App Privacy Policy .

The Data Processing Overview explains Reveu’s expected merchant-processing model.

Where Reveu processes personal information on your behalf as a processor, any applicable Data Processing Agreement made available by Reveu will form part of this agreement.

You remain responsible for:

  • Providing required privacy notices
  • Identifying an appropriate lawful basis
  • Responding to customer rights requests
  • Configuring appropriate retention and publication settings
  • Using only necessary customer information
  • Obtaining required permissions and consents
  • Ensuring your instructions are lawful

You must not instruct Reveu to process personal information in a manner that violates applicable law.

22

Security

Reveu applies technical and organisational measures intended to protect the Service and information processed through it.

You must use reasonable security measures for your own store, accounts, users, devices, themes, integrations, and information.

You must notify Reveu promptly if you become aware of:

  • Unauthorised access to Reveu
  • Compromised Shopify credentials
  • A suspected data breach involving the Service
  • Abuse of a review-request link or token
  • Malicious content submitted through a Reveu feature
  • A vulnerability that could affect another merchant

Do not publicly disclose an uncorrected vulnerability in a way that creates unnecessary risk to merchants, customers, or the Service.

Security information and reporting guidance are available on the Security page.

23

Support

Reveu provides support through the contact methods published on the website or within the App.

To help investigate a problem, you may need to provide:

  • Your Shopify store domain
  • A description of the issue
  • Steps that reproduce the problem
  • Relevant screenshots or error messages
  • The affected product, review, request, or feature
  • Temporary diagnostic information where appropriate

Do not send Shopify passwords, authentication codes, payment-card information, or unnecessary customer information.

Reveu does not guarantee a particular response or resolution time unless a separate written service-level agreement applies.

24

Suspension and restrictions

Reveu may suspend, restrict, or disable some or all access where reasonably necessary to:

  • Protect the Service, merchants, customers, or third parties
  • Investigate suspected misuse or fraud
  • Respond to a security incident
  • Comply with law, court orders, or regulatory requirements
  • Comply with Shopify requirements
  • Address non-payment of an approved charge
  • Prevent material harm or service disruption
  • Respond to a serious or repeated breach of these terms

Where reasonably possible, Reveu will notify you of the reason and provide an opportunity to correct the issue.

Immediate restriction may be applied where delay could create security, legal, privacy, fraud, or platform risk.

25

Termination and uninstalling

You may terminate this agreement by uninstalling Reveu and ceasing use of the Service.

Reveu may terminate the agreement or discontinue access where:

  • You materially or repeatedly breach these terms
  • Your use creates material security or legal risk
  • Shopify requires the App or connection to be disabled
  • The Service is discontinued
  • Continued provision becomes unlawful or impractical
  • An applicable paid account remains overdue

Following termination or uninstall:

  • Your access to the App may end immediately
  • Storefront widgets may stop displaying or functioning
  • Scheduled requests may be cancelled
  • Application configuration may be deleted
  • Merchant, customer, review, and media data may be processed through applicable deletion workflows
  • Limited records may be retained where legally permitted or required

You should export information you are entitled to retain before uninstalling where an export function is available.

Terms that by their nature should continue after termination will survive, including intellectual-property, confidentiality, liability, payment, dispute, and legal-compliance provisions.

26

Warranties and disclaimers

Reveu will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill.

Subject to rights and obligations that cannot legally be excluded, Reveu does not guarantee that:

  • Every review will be genuine, accurate, or lawful
  • Every imported record will match correctly
  • Every malicious or abusive submission will be detected
  • The Service will meet every merchant-specific requirement
  • Data will never be lost in any circumstance

You are responsible for evaluating whether Reveu is suitable for your store and for maintaining appropriate business continuity, exports, records, and backups.

  • An increase in review-submission rates
  • An increase in sales or revenue
  • An increase in customer engagement

  • A particular return on investment

27

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • A liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited

Excluded business losses

Subject to the paragraph above, Reveu will not be liable for:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, sales, or business
  • Loss of anticipated savings
  • Loss of business opportunity
  • Loss of goodwill or reputation
  • Loss or corruption of data
  • Indirect or consequential loss
  • Loss caused by Shopify or another third-party service
  • Loss caused by your configuration, content, instructions, theme, staff, or integrations

Liability cap

Subject to liabilities that cannot legally be limited, Reveu’s total aggregate liability arising from or relating to the Service during any twelve-month period will not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount you paid to Reveu for the Service during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim
  • £100

Where the Service is provided free of charge, the £100 amount will apply unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Each party must take reasonable steps to reduce avoidable loss.

28

Merchant indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify Reveu against third-party claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from:

  • Your Merchant Content
  • Your products, store, promotions, or customer service
  • Your review collection or moderation practices
  • Your marketing or electronic communications
  • Your breach of privacy or data-protection obligations
  • Your infringement of another person’s rights
  • Your unlawful or unauthorised use of the Service
  • Your material breach of these terms

Reveu will provide reasonable notice of a relevant claim and will not agree to a settlement that admits fault or imposes a non-financial obligation on you without your consent, which will not be unreasonably withheld.

This section does not require you to indemnify Reveu for losses caused solely by Reveu’s own breach, negligence, fraud, or unlawful conduct.

29

Confidentiality

Each party may receive non-public information that is confidential by nature or clearly identified as confidential.

The receiving party must:

  • Use confidential information only for the agreement
  • Protect it using reasonable safeguards
  • Disclose it only to people who need it and are subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations
  • Not disclose it to another party without permission unless legally required

Confidential information does not include information that:

  • Is publicly available without breach of duty
  • Was lawfully known without restriction
  • Is received lawfully from another source
  • Is independently developed without using confidential information

A party required by law to disclose confidential information should provide reasonable advance notice where legally permitted.

30

General terms

Changes to these terms

Reveu may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, pricing, law, security, infrastructure, or Shopify requirements.

Material changes will be communicated through the App, email, website, release notes, or another reasonable channel.

Continued use after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those terms. Where consent to a new charge or another change is legally required, Reveu will obtain it separately.

Assignment

You may not transfer this agreement without Reveu’s prior written consent.

Reveu may transfer the agreement as part of a merger, reorganisation, financing, sale of business, or transfer of the Service, provided the transfer does not materially reduce your rights.

Force majeure

Neither party will be responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside its reasonable control, including internet outages, provider failures, cyberattacks, natural disasters, labour disputes, government actions, utility failures, or widespread platform disruption.

Notices

Reveu may send notices to the email address connected to your Shopify store, through the App, or through another reasonable electronic method.

You may send legal notices to hello@reveu.me.

No partnership or agency

These terms do not create a partnership, employment relationship, joint venture, franchise, or agency between you and Reveu.

Waiver

A failure or delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right.

Severability

If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or removed, and the remaining terms will continue.

Entire agreement

These terms, the App Privacy Policy, any applicable Data Processing Agreement, approved pricing, and expressly incorporated documents form the entire agreement concerning the Service.

They replace previous discussions, representations, and agreements about the same subject, except for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Third-party rights

Unless expressly stated otherwise, a person who is not a party to this agreement has no right to enforce it.

31

Governing law and disputes

These terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the Service.

Before starting formal proceedings, each party should attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute by written communication.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent protective or injunctive relief where appropriate.
